The brilliant Belgrade fashion designer Ivana Pilja (appreciated by many celebrities as Dita Von Teese), recently featured in the Ljunbljana Fashion Week to present the collection she made which embodies a reinterpretation of natural patterns coming from the world of insects, structured on volumes evoking the costume history, the idea of grotesque and reminding me the sign and performative sense of legendary Leigh Bowery.

It has recently opened in Pienza the second flagship store of Officine 904, brand and factory created by Paolo Porcu Rodriguez and Silvia Pavanello under the sign of art, fashion and design, featuring a refined minimalism inspired to the paradigm “Less is more” by the architect Mies van  der Rohe. The successful event coincided with the launch of “Monte Oliveto”, project. This project is inspired by the the Basilica of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, suggestive place in the Siena hills, framed by nature, a hood of cypresses, oaks and pines. Geometries, reminding the graphic elements by Escher, reinterpret the patterns refining the frescos on the “Stories of San Benedict” by Luca Signorelli and Antonio Bazzi aka il Sodoma that decorate the Chiostro Grande of Monte Oliveto Abbey, find a new context in fashion and design, featuring in a smashing collection of accessories. Leather cuffs – made in collaboration with Anna Porcu – of whose hand-polished and interchangeable brass buckles evoke the material patterns of frescos in different, elegant and colored chromes becoming also prints and are impressed on cloth, in refined scarves made of cotton and silk. A catchy contemporary design, a precious craftsmanship celebrating the excellence of made in Italy and high-end materials are the creative alchemies by Officine 904 and the creations it makes that give rise to genuine passé-partout and join art, design and fashion.
