Innovation, experimentation under the sign of techno-sartorialism and sustainability shines in the work by Lucia Russo, Turin fashion designer of brand LüciāRüx²ōUrbānCōütürė. The young creative, supported by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion – who has presented the collections she made in Italy (during Milan Fashion Week, Florence Pitti and Altaroma), in Europe and recently also in Dubai – will present the Spring/Summer 2017 collection on 28th June 2016 in Turin, during the first edition of event Turin Fashion Week. It’s a psychedelic liberty what is impressed in the colored creations she made, emphasized by fluidi shapes and fun volumes reinterpreting the Seventies and successfully making concrete comfort, refinement and wearability, giving rise to genuine passé-partout. Here fashion will joins to music, alchemy accompanying the creative expression of Lucia – as it has evidenced by the past collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist and songwriter France de Griessen -, her flower power will dialogue with the music by Bea Zanin, talented singer who made “Plaza Victoire” – song paying homage to Turin – and will feature along with Diego Perrone in the fashion show of LüciāRüx²ōUrbānCōütürė, not to be missed happening to discover and enjoy a promising fashion designer.

A political message, impressed on a video: “free Assange”, a paradigm, the freedom, being the leitmotiv of thought and work by the legendary British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, joins to the gender fluidity, categorical imperative which has successfully developed in the Vivienne Westwood Man Spring/Summer 2017 collection, recently presented during the Milan Fashion Week. Fluid lines caressing the silhouette draw together and confuse the man with the woman. Jersey dresses and colored sweaters talk about comfort, freedom and consciousness. The outfits are tight as well as comfortable, as the coverall, large, long skirts embody light colored floral prints. The palette of colors include natural nuances along green, blue, light blue, pink and white. Stripes, transparencies, meshes and flowers are some of the patterns featuring in this fun collection.

Matteo Thiela, brilliant Turin fashion designer is the winner of Time Award 2016 edition, the project of brand acceleration arisen to give visibility into the market to the contemporary fashion companies – which is organized by the Milan tradeshow event WHITE in collaboration with Lancia, being the main partner, the Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyer, The Best Shop and ICE – The Agency for foreign promotion and internationalization of Italian companies, sponsored by City of Milan – featured a jury of Italian and American buyers – featuring leading opionion buyers as Roberta Valentini (Penelope, Brescia), Bruna Casella (Bernardelli stores, Mantova), Massimo degli Effetti (Degli Effetti, Rome), Cesare Tadolini (L’ Incontro, Modena), Jacopo Tonelli (L’ Inde Le Palais, Bologna), Giovanna Gaudenzi (Gaudenzi, Riccione), Loris Portolan (Birba’s Details, Pordenone), Lauren Forst (Kirna Zabete, New York City), Michael Adijashvili (Hotoveli, New York City), Kyrstle Kemp (Need Supply, Richmond, Virginia), Sharona Hadar and Melanie Chokron (H Lorenzo, Los Angeles) – presieduta by Mario Dell’ Oglio, the owner of Palermo Dell’ Oglio stores and President of Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyer. This prize gives the chance to the creative of featuring in a series of trunk shows which will be held in Italy, on 8th July 2016 in Riccione at Gaudenzi, on 20th October 2016 in Treviso at Le Noir and later in Mantova at the Bernardelli boutique as well as trunk shows in New York City. This is not the only opportunity given to Matteo who also won the 2016 TAO Moda award, another prize giving him the chance of setting up a fashion show on 23rd July 2016 in Taormina during the TAO Moda event. Two deserved awards recognizing the talent, the continuous search and experimentation of a creative who always developed through his work a clear and intelligible concept and connected his work to the kalokagathia, the beautiful and good, a healthy idea. That is evidenced by the Bombyx project, inspired by the silkworm, giving rise to a cloth he patented, made by teaming with a group of homeless women. 3 D patterns, lightness, incisiveness, a sophisticated, austere elegance under the sign of lyricism. I like to celebrate the fashion designer as well as the individual, his genuineness, coherence, verticality and courage, depicting a true, clean and vibrant creative and living path.

Refinement, glamour and elegance is what is embodied in “Jeau Déco”, the Spring/Summer collection 2017 by Christian Correnti, smashing designer who successfully reinterpreted the bow tie under the sign of art deco suggestions and unusual alchemies of materials, shapes and colors. Black, white, and red, along with fun colored prints are the main features along with silk and cotton which meets silver, brass, leather, resin and glass. Catchy patterns, jacquard prints and awesome, precious details talk about a bright craftsmanship. Lightness overlaps to incisiveness and delicacy, giving rise to poetry impressed in an accessory which is born to be a must have, a genuine passé-partout, available in the most exclusive stores.

Christian Correnti, Spring/Summer 2017

Atelier Livia Risi, photo courtesy of Livia Risi

Atelier Livia Risi, photo courtesy of Livia Risi

Lightness, poetry, irony, color, this is the magic alchemy embodied in the marvelous creations by the bright Rome fashion designer Livia Risi – daughter of filmmaker Claudio Risi and nephew of one the fathers of Italian Neorealism, Dino Risi, who has studied at the renowned Rome Fashion and Costume Academy – that successfully make concrete the paradigm of wearability. In fact the creations she made, showcased at her awesome atelier, which is placed in via dei Vascellari 37, in the sparkling area of Trastevere, fit with different silhouettes, talk about uniqueness, exclusivity and depict a new dandyism. It’s a genuine experience to visit the atelier of Livia (where I will come back soon). Here, little, big details, cloths, accessories and furniture tell about the creative and her work. Livia is an untiring and eager worker, despite her ironic nickname, “Ciumachella” standing in the Rome slang as “little snail” as well as “beautiful girl” in the Rome, given by a friend from Trastevere, which reminds the folk song “Ciumachella de’ Trastevere” featuring in the comedy “Rugantino” by Garinei and Giovannini – made famous by Lando Fiorini and Claudio Villa during the Sixties – and is also impressed in a series of t-shirts she created. It’s an unique aesthetics, which is under the sign of an incisive, refined and mellow femininity and a whispered elegance made of coherence, harmony of signs and visions, morphing dresses, shirt-dresses and other creations being genuine passe-partout and tracking the coordinates of a timeless style.

LIVIA RISI: LEVITÀ, POESIA E IRONIA, LE COORDINATE DI UNO STILE SENZA TEMPO

Livia Risi, photo courtesy of Livia Risi

Livia Risi, photo courtesy of Livia Risi

France de Griessen, photo by Mina Murray

Mina Murray is a talented photographer – calling herself a “polagrapher”, as it uses polaroids along with film photography in smashing ways -, based in Paris  who recently made an awesome photo shooting – made by using for the make-up vegan products by Vegan Mania, E.L.F. and Ecco Bella – featuring the vibrant and bright multi-disciplinary artist, author and songwriter France de Griessen. It’s a dreamlike landscape, an intimist tale which is peopled by delicacy, mystery, incisiveness and art, where it appears the music and its tracks, the ones that are impressed on the skin of France along with the instrument she plays, the guitar, a Fender Paramount Standard Parlor.
