It was recently held in Paris at the enchanting concept store Front de Mode, placed in the suggestive area of Marais, the presentation of “Underground seduction” the Fall/Winter 2016-2017 unisex collection by Naco Paris, which has enriched by “Kiss”, the performance made by the bright fashion designer as his alter ego Madame Paris. Fluid, sporty-chic lines, colors, bright shades of yellow along which black, white, green and blue, recycled cloths, rubber, catchy slogans as “have fun”, “kill the system”, “forever fake” are some of the patterns embodied in this smashing collection where it shines a punk attitude, made of irreverence, joy and activism. The same mood finds a new context in the art, a series of photographs, the self-portraits of Madame Paris that were exhibited in the concept store and the performance by Madame Paris( made by using the cruelty free lipstick by Nabla).

Intimacy and universality, the language of a gesture turning into matter, the kiss, which becomes a clear track of love and a way of being, the queerness, in its many shades, metaphor successfully made concrete on paper. Different are the tracks of lipstick on paper, some are more intense, reminding a passionate kiss, instead other ones are more delicate, different kisses for every occasion, though every occasion is good to kiss oneself and love oneself, love the ones you love, bring, give and spread love. That is the core of performance: to act, do, dream, love joyfully, without any limit. The universality of love remarks another issue, the queerness and gender fluidity – I support -, love nullifying the gender(, considering sexuality, sex and its different architectures is not about gender, it is just about individual’ s intimacy, something I respect and celebrate through silence and discretion). It’s a vibrant tale, being the successful evidence of a poetical and political way of making art and fashion, a genuine underground seduction for all the ones who are rebel hearts.

Lightness, elegance turns into a unique timeless style made of different signs. Uniqueness, craftsmanship, poetry, traditions and contemporary times gives rise to a dialogue under the sign of art of making. These were the main features of a suggestive display for paying homage to the renowned fashion photographer Pasquale De Antonis which featured in Road to Style the event by Altaroma to celebrate the most cutting-edge fashion districts and shopping areas being in the Rome. Via del Pellegrino and via dei Cappellari, placed close to Campo dei Fiori square, hosted this nice event I enjoyed very much. It was a joyful walk I started visiting Choup de Thèâtre, awesome vintage boutique by Mariaelena Massetti Zannini and Sara Vaccari hosting also the creations, unique pieces by smashing fashion designers – as Germana Panunzi about I will talk during the forthcoming days -, a vibrant place to discover where to go and come back talking about visions and elegance as attitude and life-style. Walking I run into the boutique Retropose, the renowned boutique Arsenale by Patrizia Pieroni, making sartorial, minimal creations and Dana, catchy concept store where visual arts and design meets fashion as the wonderful creations by Sylvio Giardina being here available evidence. I also enjoyed to see again after a long time Elisabetta La Monica and discover SoloDue, the brand of womenswear and shoes she created, featuring genuine passé-partout embodying her sign, a timeless elegance successfully joining comfort, incisiveness, sobriety and refinement.

ALTAROMA: ROAD TO STYLE, L’ OMAGGIO A PASQUALE DE ANTONIS

Rome Coin Excelsior, photo by N

Rome Coin Excelsior, photo by N

Emerging creativity and the talent-scouting work started by Altaroma featured in the pre-opening of its Winter edition, developing the successful teaming – started since the last year – with Coin Excelsior, the Rome multi-brand department store, focused on contemporary fashion which hosted the creations of the Who Is On Next talent-scouting award finalists as Catherine de’ Medici 1533, Elena Ghisellini, Giancarlo Petriglia, L72 along with the fashion show of Quattromani. The Fall/Winter 2016-2017 collection by this brand, created by the fashion designers duo formed by Massimo Noli and Nicola Frau, pays homage to the Sardinia suggestions, the ritual of Argia spider, reinterpreting a legend which talks about songs and dances between women – a single, a married and a widow – as remedy to heal from the poisonous bite of spider. A tale under the sign of femininity made of new Seventies volumes caressing the silhouette, short, fluid lines, mohair, wool, “nowind” technical cloth, crêpe and eco-fur. A healthy optimism is embodied in the palette of colors including mustard, red, black, blue as well as pink, azure, camel and white details enriching the garments.

Vivienne Westwood 10th Season Made in Africa Bag x Ethical Fashion Initiative

The legendary British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood celebrates the successful continuation of the successful partnership with the Ethical Fashion Initiative( she started five years ago), a laudable project launched by the ITC (International Trade Centre an UN Agency working in the realm of ethical fashion to emancipate the Africa people from poverty through the work and its training) with a limited edition of Africa bags collection, made by artisans in Kenya. Over the past five years the involvement of the fashion designer has supported thousands of micro-producers from marginalized communities in these regions, developing their artisan skills and improving their financial prospects. This has promoted the growth of sustainable business instead of aid dependency. Craftsmanship and ideas on the move are impressed in the Africa bags that resonate with the activism of the queen of punk, are embodied in more the design, materials used  that raise questions on critical issues such as climate change and waste.

The co-branding collection by Carmina Campus and Vibram, photo by N

It has recently presented in Milan at Entrata libera, awesome concept store focused on the search in the realm of design, the collection of accessories made in co-branding by Carmina Campus and Vibram making concrete the categorical imperative “Save waste from waste”. An idea developed by Carmina Campus, brand of accessories, jewelry and furniture created by the bright, overwhelming pioneer fashion designer, farm businesswoman and social activist Ilaria Venturini Fendi and shared today with Vibram, renowned brand producing the rubber soles, which gave rise to a smashing collection of bags, made by re-using the rubber – more precisely, as Ilaria told me, the first rubber plate, resulting from the start of productive process and therefore it is useless -, thus taking away this material from the dump and turning into something wonderful. That evidences which can create without destroying, respecting the environment and earth which host us. It’ another way to see life, the world surrounding us, another way of thinking, working, creating, making and producing fashion, which emphasizes the idea of elegance as bringer of value and values. A healthy ethic is embodied in a vibrant aesthetics where it shines the approach of matter- and reminds me of work by Alberto Burri – and refinement. The many bags, as the nice rubber clutch bags are decorated by little, fun patterns made of rubber as well as other items, joining the rubber to other materials as leather and fur and are genuine passé-partout.
